Confessions of a Carny

I thought that since Ray was doing the right thing by confessing her cussing ways, ( the woman swears like a drunken sailor) I would stay with the theme and reveal to all you classy readers that I am in fact nothing more than a carnival worker. It's true... well sort of. I don't operate greasy rides and spit tobacco juice, but rather Alex and I tease hair into mohawks, spikes, and various other shapes and paint them wild colors. This is our talent. Some are engineers and some are lawyers or builders, we build hair. Alex can make hair into an island with a palm tree, or a ladybug, or a unicorn, or a television set, and I paint the hair with spray paint made for hair.We sweat and toil in working conditions that include hours upon hours of techno music that could turn anyone's brain into liquid, and mobs of kids and sweaty teenagers. We love it. If anyone lands in Alaska around August 20th, the mohawks on us.

Ah, good ol' Fair Hair! Hey there's no shame in making money off of people's wild impulses. You're just like the guy in Dr. Seuss's "Sneeches" who got paid to put stars on and off their bellies. You should sponser a booth right next to yours and charge for undoing whatever it is you did. Cha-ching!

That's awesome! A lot fancier than the shampoo mohawk I used to make for my 2-yr old son. Do you ever have awkward moments, like when some dude with wispy hair comes in and says, "make mine like hers?"

I love fairs. Something about them that makes me, the cheapest of them all, open up my wallet to try to win stuffed animals that are cool for about a day.

Also, have you ever noticed that any food tastes good at a fair?

Sorry Tim but I have been at the fair every year, every day, for most of my life ( my mom rents strollers) the food is greasy and gives you the runs, the stuffed animals are hideous, and some of the people look like they have just crawled out from under the brush just for the occasion.

Just Call me Debbie Downer

How much do fair go-er's pay for said "Fair Hair"? Just curious...

I love fair food. At the Minnesota state fair, you could get 32 different things "on a stick" including mac-n-cheese, pizza, and deep-fried candy bars. My favorite was the deep-fried cheese curds.

"deep fried cheese curds" sounds like a loud, teen punk band.

When bald people go to Ambie's stand, she paints their heads. no kidding.

I do paint heads

imme we charge $12 for "crazy hair" or a little toddler mohawk and $20 for a grown up mohawk. The fair just started today, I will post some new pics here soon.

Mac on a stick ? What the...?
Candy bars eh?
Were people dropping dead all around the perimeter?
